Allbäck Purified Raw Linseed Oil

Sale price$25.40

Size: 1 L
Description

Cold-pressed, purified linseed oil penetrates into wood, protecting it from moisture and, consequently, from rot. The molecules of raw linseed oil are so small that they penetrate deeply to provide long-term protection.

The proteins are carefully removed from the oil according to traditional methods, producing a sterile product without contamination, effectively removing the food source for microbes.

Heat the oil to 60ºC for even faster penetration and conditioning. The oil should be well absorbed into the wood, and the surfaces should feel dry before painting.

Uses
  • Deep impregnation into dry wood to condition, rejuvenate, and protect.
  • Storage for paint brushes between coats of paint to avoid cleaning the brush.
  • Thinning putty into a slurry for filling fine cracks and small holes.
Notes
  1. Differences in the colour tone of linseed oil from batch to batch are a result of the growing and harvesting conditions of a particular season. It is not a result of processing and has no particular bearing on the quality of the oil.
  2. Under the right conditions, rags soaked in linseed oil may self-ignite. Soak oily rags in water before disposing of them.

Highly recommend

I have been a customer of Sage restoration since 2018. Have used their paint, putty and other linseed oil products regularly, in fact daily during the week. Working with natural products can have a few more challenges, however I have received expert advice from both Michael and John and have been extremely happy with the results. For example, I had a roofer paint my steel barn roof every few years with whatever environmentally unfriendly paint he normally used. It didn't last. I convinced him to use the Allback paint and it has lasted a lot longer, and it still looks great. We have used the pine tar carried by Sage Restoration instead of using pressure treated wood which is bad for the environment. I have painted the inside of my house, our barn windows and many many projects, I could go on and on. But anyway if you care about not putting nasty chemicals onto the walls of your home or other projects, I highly recommend the products that Sage Restoration carries. As an added bonus their shipping is very quick, often the next day !!

Excellent help and information

I had excellent help and information from Sage when I communicated with them a couples of times before I placed my first order. Hopefully next summer I’ll be ready to order the black also!!

Completely transformed the look of the house

We repainted our log cabin, garage and shed in black-brown tar and raw linseed oil. It has completely transformed the look of the house, and when the house exterior heats up in the sun we get the most wonderful scent from the logs.

The product spreads incredibly well. No need to worry about having start / stop marks on the logs when painting. The color blended wonderfully and made it very easy to apply.

We had the products delivered to northern NY state, which went really well. We ran out of material a few days into the project and Sage Restoration was able to send us enough within a few days to complete the project. The agent I spoke with was efficient and friendly, she also knew what UPS would / wouldn't be able to do given the time of the order and set realistic expectations.

100% sold on pine tar and linseed oil as a stain and sealer

I rarely take the time to leave a review but I am 100% sold on pine tar and linseed oil as a stain and sealer for my shop in western Oregon. Not only does it look great after three wet winters, but it’s holding up so well and I can’t wait to get another coat on it to last the rest of the century or longer. I love that there’s no gnarly chemicals or solvents and I have already recommended this to several friends and family members for similar projects. I’m a pine tar believer! The classic 50/50 mix was perfect for my application.

Highly Recommend

Allbäck Purified Raw Linseed Oil was my first experience using linseed oil. Customer service helped me understand coverage and application. This product was used to seal a new front door that otherwise would have been abused by water damage. The oil was so easy to apply, smelled delightfully nutty and ultimately, made the door weather proof. After 3 coats on the exterior of the door and 2 inside, water is completely repelled. Will likely make an annual chore of 1-2 additional coats prior to winter for easy maintenance and upkeep. Highly recommend.
